My Achievement as an Artist
I am a self-taught artist that's been training with master artists for the last two years and I recently achieved Exhibiting Membership status with the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA).
My Love as an Artist
I grew up the youngest daughter of a Canadian Air Force Officer, and every two-four years the family was transferred to a new military base. This mean meant extensive time in the family vehicle travelling, and countless hours staring at and falling in love with the beautiful, vast, Canadian landscape passing by.Â
I also grew up in the pre-technology era of the 1970’s, before there were any computers, video games, or cellphones. All of my spare time was spent in engaging outdoor activities (e.g. playing tag or frisbee, riding bikes, playing soccer or baseball, climbing trees, hiking, swimming, fishing, camping, skating) with friends and family. This is also the basis for where my love of nature stems from.
Painting for me, is extremely exciting and makes me complete. I feel uplifted and happy to create and produce something with my hands. It feels very satisfying to see a painting start from a picture, draw it on the canvas, mix all the paint colors, and then paint it until complete. It's even more satisfying to see someone connect with one of my paintings, and to see the joy it brings my customers. I'm also a life-long learner, and will never stop taking classes/courses to increase my knowledge and skills as an artist.
Passionate About Painting
I am passionate about everything I do; otherwise, what's the point. I was taught it's not worth doing unless you give it everything your have and do it to the best of your abilities.
I inherited my Mom's paints when she died from COVID and painting is a way to honor her, and it helped me deal with her death. I created this paint pour collection after losing my Mom - a time when my world felt shattered and falling apart. From bottom to top: The Catastrophic Event, The Struggle, and The Storm - reflecting my battle with depression and the fight to keep moving forward. These paintings symbolize resilience and determination, even in the darkest of times.
